London-based factual producer Oxford Scientific Films (OSF), part of the ITV Studios-owned Boom Cymru group, has bolstered its executive ranks with the appointment of former BBC commissioning editor Lucinda Axelsson as an executive producer.
A multi-award-winning exec producer, Axelsson most recently served as an EP at John Downer Productions where her credits included BBC1′s Snow Bears and the wildlife drama series Serengeti.
Prior to this, she was a series producer over a 10-year period at the BBC’s Natural History Unit before being elevated in 2014 to the role of commissioning editor for specialist factual.
During her three-year tenure as a commissioning editor, Axelsson oversaw a number of high-rating wildlife series, blue chip docuseries, popular science, presenter-led shows and animal dramas, including Spy in the Wild, Elephant Family and Me, Pets Wild at Heart, and Attenborough’s Life that Glows, among others.
Axelsson previously worked with OSF as a freelance series producer in 2004 on the Discovery series Meerkat Manor, which utilized narrative techniques to reveal the complex social lives of animals for the first time.
“I have long admired Lucinda as a hugely talented producer. There are few executives in the industry with her breadth of experience, particularly in natural history, a genre where we are experiencing an unprecedented demand both in the UK and internationally,” said OSF chief executive Clare Birks in a statement.
