Veteran executive producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi has partnered with Asylum Entertainment Group’s Founder and CEO Steve Michaels to launch the prodco Big City TV, a joint venture with Asylum’s flagship content collective The Content Group.
Rothschild (pictured) has over two decades of experience in the TV industry, with a focus on the unscripted space in true crime and historical documentaries.
Her credits include The Coroner: I Speak For the Dead (ID), Deadly Wives (A&E), Murder Book (ID), Cash Cab (Discovery), Deadliest Catch (Discovery), Planet Earth (Discovery), DB Cooper: Case Closed (History) and Passport to Latin America with Samantha Brown (Travel).
She previously launched Tent City Productions in 2016, which had an overall deal with Fremantle. Before that, she spent five years at LMNO Productions and more than a decade at Discovery Networks holding a range of positions.
Big City is already working on projects with TLC, History and Oxygen, including partnerships with celebrity talent Kim Kardashian West and racing legend Tony Kanaan.
“I’ve known Steve for years, and have always admired both his creativity and innovative business approach to an ever changing marketplace,” said Rothschild, in a statement. “Launching Big City with him and The Content Group really kickstarts us out of the gate, providing us access to not only an infrastructure but also a team of creative partners to more efficiently bring our slate to series.”
“Lori is a respected developer with a unique talent for producing across a wide range of genres,” added Michaels. “As we continue to build our collective, she is the perfect example of the kind of partner whose vision we want to both invest in and champion to the fullest extent.”
