Facebook Watch, the video streaming platform of Facebook, is offering a snapshot of it’s summer and fall offerings, and inking global partnerships with ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany.
Facebook Watch Originals will premiere an adaptation of MTV’s The Real World on June 13 in the U.S., Mexico and Thailand.
Elsewhere, Beyond Productions’ documentary series Curse of Akakor (pictured) will premiere on Aug. 11. The series follows six investigators as they journey into the Amazon jungle in search of the lost city of Akakor, while also looking into mysterious disappearances and deaths of other explorers seeking the lost city of gold. The team is made up of investigative journalist Paul Connolly; former FBI agent Bobby Chacon; tech expert Brennon Edwards; survival expert Megan Hine; wilderness doctor Dr. Karina Oliani; and geologist/explorer Dr. Martin Pepper.
Facebook Watch has also partnered with digital publishers and creators on shows, including The Players’ Tribune’s Generations featuring U.S. women’s national team stars Megan Rapinoe and Lindsey Horan. The series documents their journey to soccer’s biggest stage, and premieres on June 11.
Whistle Sports’ eight-episode series Globetrotter Gauntlet with the Harlem Globetrotters debuts on June 24, in which each episode features a Globetrotter, a crazy location, a larger-than-life stunt, and a challenge to a teammate to top their stunt.
Tastemade’s Sunday’s at Nonna’s, premiering on June 30, stars comedian, writer and actor Ian Hecox as he joins his grandmother in the kitchen to learn her classic dishes.
On August 2, Facebook Watch launches Studio71′s Fetch Me a Date, starring Mean Girls’ Jonathan Bennett and Rich Kids of Beverly Hills’ Dorothy Wang as they help singles find love. It is executive produced by Andy Strauser at Studio71, a Red Arrow Studios company.
Returning series include reality series Ball in the Family on August 18, for its fifth season, as well as the second season of reality series Huda Boss, centered around beauty blogger Huda Kattan and her family, on August 20.
In other news, ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany has signed a digital-first content deal with Facebook Watch. It includes pre-shows, after-shows, interviews, and spin-offs from popular shows such as The Voice of Germany and Germany’s Next Top Model by Heidi Klum.
The deal kicks off with The Masked Singer premiere on June 27 on ProSieben.
In addition, ProSiebenSat.1 will produce exclusive clips for Facebook Watch, giving viewers access to behind-the-scenes of their favorite shows, including backstage interviews and other information. ProSiebenSat.1 will also produce special content such as posts, stories and live streams via its TV stations and digital unit Studio71 that will be simultaneously posted to both Facebook and Instagram.
