John Curbishley has been promoted to the role of executive vice president of distribution strategy, operations and new business within Viacom’s newly formed distribution and business development group.
Curbishley (pictured) will be responsible for identifying distribution opportunities with new and emerging businesses in his new role, as well as developing new products and services for Viacom’s existing distribution partners.
He will continue to work closely with Viacom’s portfolio of brands to develop and implement distribution strategies across platforms, including multi-channel video programming distributors, SVOD and AVOD partners and Viacom direct to consumer services.
Curbishley will report to Tom Gorke, Viacom’s EVP and head of distribution and business development.
The new distribution and business development group is meant to expand the company’s presence on next-gen platforms.
Before joining Viacom in 2017 as SVP of distribution strategy and operations, Curbishley held a number of strategy and business development roles, including SVP of business development at NBCUniversal and various corporate strategy roles at the BBC.
