American documentary film festival DOC NYC is expanding from eight to 10 days for its 10th anniversary event.
The festival has also hired Amy Jelenko as the DOC NYC PRO Conference director. She will work with artistic director Thom Powers to oversee the programming of industry talks and panels, along with the “Only in New York” meetings arranged between filmmakers and industry players from fields of financing, production and distribution.
Jelenko previously worked at the International Documentary Association, developing and overseeing programs including the annual IDA Awards, IDA Screening Series and DocuWeeks.
Meanwhile, DOC NYC’s Visionaries Tribute awards program will be held at Gotham Hall in midtown Manhattan this year, to accommodate more participants for its third year running.
“We have many new initiatives to celebrate our 10th anniversary,” said DOC NYC executive director Raphaela Neihausen (pictured) in a statement. “These are the first in a series of announcements about delivering a bigger, better and more accessible experience for filmmakers, industry and the public.”
