MGM-owned studio and The Hills: New Beginnings producer Evolution Media has bolstered its executive ranks with the elevation of Alex Baskin to president and the appointment of industry veteran Rabih Gholam as EVP of development.
Baskin (pictured, left), who previously served as president of programming and development, will continue to work alongside Douglas Ross, also president, to set the Vanderpump Rules producer’s overall strategy. In addition, he will manage the company’s day-to-day operations and the development team, while also providing creative oversight for all Evolution Media productions. Since joining Evolution in 2006 as head of development, Baskin has executive produced more than 30 series.
Baskin will continue reporting into Barry Poznick, MGM’s president of unscripted television.
As EVP of development, Gholam (right) will be tasked with creating and developing new projects. He reports directly into Baskin.
Gholam joins Evolution from Studio71, a Red Arrow Studios company, where he launched the company’s unscripted division to develop content for talent on platforms including Facebook, Food Network, iTunes, Snapchat, A&E and MTV.
Prior to Studio71, Gholam was EVP at Ryan Seacrest Productions, where he oversaw such non-fiction programs as ABC Family’s Becoming Us, CMT’s I Love Kellie Pickler and YouTube’s Best.Cover.Ever. Before that, he produced a number of successful series including The Surreal Life, The Mole and Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and previously worked as an executive producer at MTV on such series as The Hills.
“As Evolution Media continues to grow and produce outstanding content, it is essential to have leaders in place that have the experience and mind for strategy that will propel the company to even greater heights,” said Poznick in a statement. “With Alex and his partner, Douglas Ross, continuing to steer the ship and with the recent hire of Rabih, an experienced, smart and focused executive, there is nowhere for this team to go but up.”
