Universum Film executive Bernhard zu Castell will take on the role of chief distribution officer at a budding German film studio, newly formed by the merger of  Tele München Group, Universum Film, i&u TV and Wiedemann & Berg Film.

Zu Castell will assume responsibility for the yet-to-be-named company’s distribution division while maintaining the title of managing director at Universum Film, a position he has held at the television prodco since 2010. He has been responsible for the financial management of Universum Film since 2006, and was previously employed in corporate development at RTL.

The newly minted company’s corporate management team now consists of zu Castell, as chief distribution officer; CEO Fred Kogel; COO Dr. Markus Frerker; and CFO Joachim Scheuenpflug.

“I am looking forward to working with the new corporate management team and I am pleased about the trust they have placed in me,” he said in a statement. “As we continue to develop the distribution of our content, we want to explore new ways in addition to theatrical and home entertainment exploitation and make even greater use of the possibilities offered by digital channels in order to make an additional contribution to the corporation’s added value.”
