Multi-platform media company Complex Networks has bolstered its executive programming and branded content teams with the hiring of David Weinstein and Katina Lee.
As VP of production, Weinstein will be tasked with oversight of brand partnership studio production, editorial, studio and post production operations, as well as the talent relations department. He will work across Complex, ComplexCon, First We Feast, Pigeons and Planes and Sole Collector, and report into Complex’s Justin Killion, EVP of development, production and distribution.
Weinstein joins Complex Networks from iCrossing where he was head of production. Prior to this, he was head of production at Laundry Service, and partner and executive producer at Emmy-winning prodco East Pleasant.
Lee, meanwhile, has been named head of branded content with responsibility for creating and designing “original and first-to-market campaigns that align with Complex’s diverse audiences and brands’ initiatives.” She reports to Complex’s chief revenue officer Edgar Hernandez.
Previously, Lee was executive producer and VP of branded content and activations at One X Studios. There, she was tasked with developing and producing numerous branded content series, influencer engagement and experiential programs for a clientele list that includes Lexus, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Toyota, Home Depot and Walmart, among others. Prior to One X, Lee worked at Alloy Media & Marketing, Vibe and Essence.
Elsewhere, Jonathan Hunt has joined Complex as EVP of marketing and audience development. Before Complex, Hunt served as SVP of digital strategy and audience development for National Geographic Partners.
“Complex Networks has become a global leader in youth culture that spans across web, social, digital video, linear, OTT, events and commerce,” said Christian Baesler, president of Complex Networks, in a statement. “As we gear up for our next phase of growth, I’m thrilled to have Jonathan, Katina and David join our team. They are proven industry leaders with incredible experience and will make a huge impact in moving our business forward.”
