Tinopolis Group-owned prodco Firecracker Films is entering pre-production on its one-off documentary Britain’s Biggest Snorer (working title) for British pubcaster Channel 5.
The film will unearth Britain’s loudest snorers, with self-shot footage from partners and loved ones. More than 6,500 people in the country have sent in nominations for the title.
“We want the nation to get behind this quest to find Britain’s loudest snorers. This 90-minute special promises to be both hilarious and genuinely revealing about the impact that snoring can have on health and on relationships,” Jes Wilkens, chief creative officer at Firecracker Films (pictured), said in a statement. “It is of course in no way inspired by the personal lives of either of the exec producers!”
Britain’s Biggest Stoner will also explore the causes of and remedies for snoring, featuring a team of experts that help sufferers with pioneering and peculiar treatments. The final six snorers and their partners will attend a “snoring camp,” where they will be filmed, monitored, tries and tested, culminating to the crowning of Britain’s Biggest Snorer.
Executive producers on the series are Wilkins and Fred Ruiz, head of factual entertainment. Helen Barker is series producer and Seb Caldwell is the commissioner for Channel 5.
The documentary will be distributed by Passion Distribution, also part of the Tinopolis Group, and will be part of the London-based distributors slate of titles at MIPCOM.
