Discovery-owned pay-TV channel TLC is slated to air its previously announced special Taken at Birth this fall, from ITV America-owned prodco Good Caper Content.

Each two-hour episode shares the untold stories of the “Hicks Babies.” The newborns were illegally sold or given away from the back steps of a small-town Georgia clinic run by Thomas J. Hicks (pictured) in the 1950s and 1960s.

In 1997, the news story broke, revealing that Hicks was alleged to have spearheaded the black-market baby ring. Decades later, many Hicks Babies are still looking for their birth parents.

TLC’s Long Lost Family co-hosts Lisa Joyner and Chris Jacobs team up with lead investigator Jane Blasio, the youngest of the known Hicks Babies.

Weaved with “raw, emotional reunions,” the series follows Joyner, Jacobs and Blasio as they seek answers to Hicks’ crimes. The trio embark on conventional DNA searchers, door-to-door interrogations and a mausoleum search.

Kathryn Vaughan, Bernie Schaeffer and Chaney Moon are executive producers for Good Caper Content. Executive producers for TLC are Howard Lee, Alon Orstein, Jason Sarlanis, Jennifer Gordon, Gabriela Tavakoli and John Hein.

The three-night Taken at Birth airs Oct. 9 through Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
