Married at First Sight creator Snowman Productions, based in Copenhagen and part of the Red Arrow Studios roster, has launched an international development label.

Snowman Global will collaborate with broadcasters and prodcos to develop major new formats for the global marketplace. The company will additionally work with distribution outfit Red Arrow Studios International in retaining rights to global format IP while also seeking out production partners in selected territories.

“Our ambition is to build on the creative expertise we have established for the Danish market, and take this out to the world with a separate, dedicated production label,” said Snowman managing director Michael von Würden in a statement. “We continue to be committed to producing the best TV for the Danish and Scandinavian markets, but also realize that our skills in creating noisy, exciting, ambitious formats have exciting commercial opportunities for a wide range of broadcasters around the world.”

“The launch of Snowman Global is a logical next step for [Snowman] to extend their sights on creating for international networks – especially given the international success of their formats,” added James Baker, co-CEO of Red Arrow Studios. “The launch of Snowman Global signifies our strategy of supporting and building on the ambitions and expertise of our existing companies and creative heads, as a way of growing our business overall.”

Snowman Productions was founded in 2011 by Von Würden, creative director Rasmus Steentoft, and head of production Lars Fønss. The Scandinavian company’s successful format Married at First Sight (pictured) is now in its sixth season for DR1 Denmark and is currently airing in 29 countries worldwide, including in the U.S., the UK, Germany and Australia.

Last month, American pay-TV channel Lifetime reordered the social experiment format for a further two seasons through 2020. The U.S. version of the format is produced by Red Arrow Studios’ Kinetic Content and is distributed worldwide by Red Arrow Studios International.

Additional programs in Snowman’s arsenal include Buying Blind, now in its second season in the Scandinavian market, Kiss Bang LoveA League of Their Own, and comedy series Menneskekender (How Dare You!).
