WarnerMedia’s forthcoming streamer HBO Max has ordered the feature-length documentary Expecting Amy (working title) from American stand-up comedian and actress Amy Schumer.
The documentary takes viewers behind the scenes as Schumer goes through a difficult pregnancy while touring to prepare for her stand-up special.
Expecting Amy (w/t) showcases her journey on the road, from hospitalizations to performances to quiet time at home with her family.
Beginning the day Schumer found out she was pregnant, through to the birth of her child, the film offers a “hilarious and raw” look at the comedian’s life.
“Amy Schumer is an inspiration and this project is such an honest look at her experience being on the road while preparing for her special,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, in a statement. “Her willingness to showcase her immense vulnerability, during the most challenging time in her life, is both empowering and hilarious.”
Schumer, who serves as producer, added: “Women are warriors, every one of us. And I hope sharing my story brings more awareness to the challenges of pregnancy and childbirth.”
Elsewhere, HBO Max has commissioned the six-part lifestyle travelogue Brad & Gary Go To… from Purveyors of Pop and Entertainment One.
The tentatively titled series will follow Hollywood power couple Brad Goreski (pictured right) and Gary Janetti (left) as they undertake a globetrotting culinary adventure inspired by their Instagram stories.
Goreski is one of Hollywood’s top celebrity stylists and has served as the brand stylist for Kate Spade for four years. In addition, he has featured on fashion-forward programs including The Rachel Zoe Project, Fashion Police and his own Bravo series, It’s a Brad Brad World.
Janetti, meanwhile, serves as an Emmy-nominated producer and writer of Family Guy,Will & Grace and Vicious, among others. His debut book Do You Mind If I Cancel? is set for release on Tuesday (Oct. 22).
HBO Max is slated to debut in spring 2020.
“Brad and Gary have become an Internet sensation and it was actually their over one million followers who requested this series. These same fans also helped turn Gary’s go to Starbucks order into a viral sensation known as ‘The Gary,’” said Aubrey. “We can’t wait to travel the world with them and capture their fabulousness and hilarity.”
