Denver-based production and design studio Citizen Pictures has bolstered its creative ranks with the appointment of former Dorsey Pictures executive Katie Alvord.

In the new posting, Alvord (pictured) will serve as VP of development with a responsibility for generating character-driven docuseries and original formats for U.S. networks and streamers. In addition, she will be tasked with unearthing homegrown characters and talent in Colorado and the West.

She reports directly to CEO and president Frank Matson and will work closely alongside Tim McOsker, VP of development and production.

Most recently, Alvord served as director of development at Dorsey Pictures where her credits included HGTV’s Maine Cabin Masters, Oxygen’s Accident, Suicide or Murder and DIY’s Bus Life Ever.

Alvord launched her career at NBC before moving on to Jim Berger‘s High Noon Entertainment, working on series such as Taco Trip and GRUBsessed.

“Honestly, we were immediately drawn to Katie’s love for making great television,” said CEO and president Frank Matson in a statement. “She brings a broad range of experience, a strong creative vision and an impressive track record for creating successful series around untapped talent.  She’s a natural addition for us as we continue to prioritize talent led programming across food, lifestyle, travel and action-adventure.”
