CNN Films is set to premiere Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s feature documentary about music legend Linda Ronstadt on New Year’s Day.

Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice follows the meteoric rise of Ronstadt throughout the ’60s and following decades as the first female artist to top the pop, country and R&B music charts simultaneously, earning 10 Grammy Awards out of a total of 26 career nominations.

Ronstadt narrates the film herself, presenting footage of her personal photos, archival film of her concert performances and music videos, along with interviews with friends and collaborators like Dolly Parton and Bonnie Raitt.

Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice was produced by James Keach, PCH Films and Telling Pictures. Courtney Sexton, SVP for CNN Films, and Amy Entelis, EVP for talent and content development, both serve as EPs on the film.

The film took home the Best Music Documentary award at the fourth annual Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards on Sunday (Nov. 10).

“Rob and Jeffrey have crafted a film that soulfully captures how Linda Ronstadt broke the mold for female artists, all while remaining true to herself,” said Sexton in a statement. “And, once again, James Keach has delivered another powerful portrait of a music icon.”

The film will premiere as a CNN Films documentary on New Year’s Day at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CNN, with encores on Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and Jan. 5 at 12 a.m. ET/PT.
