UK pubcaster BBC will air a one-hour doc about the unfolding, highly divisive Brexit movement, produced by indie factual prodco October Films for BBC2.
Inside Brexit: The Battle Continues with Laura Kuenssberg (working title) follows the BBC political editor (pictured) as she takes viewers behind the scenes of the politically charged movement to remove the UK from the European Union, dubbed “Brexit.”
The doc traces the rise of the Brexit movement and its current state, from Boris Johnson’s election as Conservative Party leader to the upcoming general election in December that will determine the viability of Brexit and the future of Johnson’s political career.
Kuenssberg uses her unique access to the prime minister, his cabinet and leading politicians who oppose him to offer a broad portrait of the situation.
Inside Brexit: The Battle Continues with Laura Kuenssberg is directed by Toby Paton. October Films head of topical programs Neil Breakwell serves as executive producer. The doc was commissioned for the BBC by Patrick Holland, controller for BBC2, and Joanna Carr, head of current affairs. The BBC commissioning editor is Gian Quaglieni.
“Love or hate Brexit, it’s changing our lives,” said Kuenssberg, in a statement. “This program is a chance for viewers to live and breathe the political story of our times on our camera’s shoulder. There’s no spoiler, because only a fool would predict the finale and the ultimate victor in the race for power and to stop or deliver Brexit.”
Added Breakwell: “Filming with Laura on such a momentous story is an exhilarating experience. It’s an opportunity to capture history being made and to give the audience a unique insight into how the crazy world of politics and the media work.”
