British pubcaster Channel 4 has secured the 60-minute documentary Adam Hills: Take His Legs from Noah Media Group.

The one-off special follows Adam Hills, Australian comedian and host of C4′s The Last Leg, as he embarks on his childhood dream to play competitive rugby league.

Adam Hills: Take His Legs is the story of the birth of the Physical Disability Rugby League in the UK, and the rise of the Warrington Wolves team to World Champions.

The documentary follows Hills and his Warrington Wolves teammates as they prepare for the biggest game of their lives against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Australia.

It also deals with mental health, post traumatic stress disorder and the impact of sport and teamwork on emotional wellbeing.

Adam Hills: Take His Legs is produced by Pete Thomas and John McKenna. Thomas serves as director with Torquil Jones.

Hills, Barry Smith, Jonathan Smith and Joe Norris are executive producers. Fozia Khan is commissioning editor for C4.

“This story grew into something we could never have imagined - not only on the field, in the amazing journey to the World Club Challenge in Sydney, but also off the field,” Thomas said in a statement. “An extraordinary team came together, and demonstrated the power of sport and teamwork in overcoming both physical and mental challenges.”

Also, Channel 4 has commissioned Twofour Group-owned Boomerang to produce three one-hour specials.

Inside the Toy Factory at Christmas (w/t) lifts the lid on three toy, crafts and games manufacturers, and goes behind the scenes of one of the world’s most famous toy stores.

Hosted by Scarlette Douglas, Last Minute Holiday Secrets (w/t) investigates the best way to book a vacation. It will follow two families staying at the same resort at the same time, completing the same activities, to test if a “last minute bargain” really exists.

The Truth About Your Gut (w/t), presented by Sabrina Grant, explores whether certain health regimes can increase the number of good bacteria in the gut and improve overall health.

The film will follow six contributors as they put a plethora of purported diets or programs to the test over the course of four weeks.

The three programs have been commissioned by Sean Doyle. Sam Grace is the executive producer for Boomerang.

Inside the Toy Factory at Christmas (w/t) will air this December, with Last Minute Holiday Secrets (w/t) and The Truth About Your Gut (w/t) airing in early 2020. Twofour is part of ITV Studios.
