Realscreen is partnering with filmmaker and executive producer Chuck Braverman and his Westdoc Online video series, to bring his interviews with acclaimed documentarians and non-fiction content industry figures to its readership.
The latest episode features Drea Cooper, who, with co-director Zackary Canepari, has helmed the harrowing Netflix doc short Fire in Paradise, which chronicles the deadliest wildfire to strike the U.S. in more than a century, destroying the town of Paradise, California and killing 85 people.
The team is also behind such projects as the gritty Netflix docuseries Flint Town (also co-directed with Jessica Dimmock), and T-Rex, a Realscreen MIPTV Pick for 2016, spotlighting a young boxer from Flint who dreams of being the first woman to win a gold medal in Olympic boxing.
In the interview with Chuck Braverman, Cooper discusses how the team has been able to gain access for its projects, and how they were able to use gripping user-generated content to drive home the horror of the wildfires depicted in Fire in Paradise.
