Bryn Mooser’s premium non-fiction film and TV studio XTR, which launched in September, is producing a new wrestling doc with Scream, Never Been Kissed and Eight Legged Freaks actor David Arquette.
Arquette became something of a wrestling antihero following his starring role in the World Champion Wrestling-produced Ready to Rumble in 2000. The actor was crowned WCW world champion as a marketing stunt, making him controversial and notorious figure in the wrestling world.
Now, You Cannot Kill David Arquette seeks to clear Arquette’s name, following the actor as he competes in 19 professional wrestling matches. Arquette fired back at wrestling fans who think he’s “a joke” last year on Twitter ahead of his return to the ring, highlighting his eight months of training, two surgeries, three broken ribs, and extensive traveling across the U.S.
Topics covered in the film include family, career and addiction, with exclusive interviews with ex-wife Courteney Cox, sisters Patricia and Rosanna Arquette, brother Richmond Arquette, professional wrestler Ric Flair and more.
You Cannot Kill David Arquette, written and directed by David Darg and co-directed by Price James, is produced by XTR as part of the fledgling prodco’s debut slate of docs. Producers include Justin Lacob, Ross Levine and Kathryn Everett, and Christina McLarty Arquette is executive producer.
“David Arquette is one of the most captivating and talented entertainers in the world, and his energy is matched only by the passion of the wrestling community. It’s been a thrill to be ringside the past few years and viewers will not be disappointed,” said Darg in a statement.
