A+E Networks-owned women’s entertainment cable net Lifetime is set to launch a new pop culture history docuseries centered on iconic and tragic celebrity romances in the new year.

Hopelessly in Love chronicles high-profile romantic relationships of yesteryear, highlighting headline-making love stories that were cut short by untimely deaths.

Each of three two-hour films will tackle the story of a different celebrity couple: TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Andre Rison; Faith Evans and The Notorious B.I.G.; and Anna Nicole Smith (pictured left) and Larry Birkhead (right).

Each doc features interviews with the surviving partners — Rison, Evans and Birkhead — along with never-before-seen footage, retracing the couples’ stories and their tragic ends.

Hopelessly in Love is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) and Creature Films. Executive producers are Tara Long for eOne, Mark Ford and Kevin Lopez for Creature Films, along with Kai Bowe, Larry Birkhead, Faith Evans, Andre Rison and Reigndrop Lopes. Brie Miranda Bryant and Gena McCarthy executive produce for Lifetime.

The three-week event premieres Jan. 4 with the Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Andre Risen story, followed by Faith Evans and Notorious B.I.G. on Jan. 10, and Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead on Jan. 17.
