Snapchat sets December release for Tekashi 6ix9ine series

Multimedia messaging app Snapchat is set to launch its new docuseries Tekashi69 vs The World on Saturday (Dec. 21).

The series traces the rise and fall of controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine and features exclusive interviews with his close friends and collaborators.

Tekashi69 vs The World is part of the ‘Vs The World’ strand, Snap’s first franchise. This first season is produced by Complex. Each season will explore the life and journey of some of the biggest names in hip-hop, sports, and entertainment culture, with exclusive footage and commentary.

NHK takes docuseries from TV Only

Japanese pubcaster NHK has acquired the rights to natural history docuseries Supernature from Paris-based prodco and distributor TV Only.

The series (pictured) explores the natural phenomenon of biomimicry, granting plants and animals a kind of superpower in the face of various threats.

Supernature was originally commissioned by French TV network Planète+, a Canal+ company.

TLN Media Group launches new distribution company

Canadian multilingual media company TLN Media Group (TMG) is launching a new distribution company: TMG Worldwide Media Distribution Inc.

The new company represents a “Made in Canada” multilingual program offering, featuring genres ranging from lifestyle and travel to documentary features, dramas, comedies and children’s series, available in English, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Tagalog/Filipino, with more languages to come.

The catalog currently includes the six-part food and travel series Opening Sicily and the feature doc Ortona: The Canadian Stalingrad.

PBS Member Stations Now Live on YouTube TV

U.S. pubcaster PBS has made content from over 100 member stations available to stream via YouTube TV.

This is PBS’s first local livestreaming partnership and includes episodes and on-demand content from locally-produced shows as well as national favorites like American Experience, Antiques Roadshow, Frontline, Great Performances, Masterpiece and Nature.

In addition to YouTube TV, PBS and PBS Kids content remains available on all station-branded PBS platforms, including PBS.org, PBSKids.org, and the PBS video app and PBS Kids video app.
