It’s that time of year again, to look back at the past 12 months, assess the highs and the lows, and maybe make a quip or two while doing so. Look for more from our annual year-end survey here at Realscreen.com and in our upcoming January/February issue. We continue our look at the year that was with Danny Fenton, CEO of Zig Zag Productions.

My favorite factual program/series (or feature documentary) of 2019 was:
They Shall Not Grow Old.

I never thought they’d make a program about:
Tottenham Hotspur (Amazon’s All Or Nothing).

The program/series/doc people will be talking about in five years is:
The Edge.

In 18 months, no one will be talking about:
Take Us Home: Leeds United (Amazon).

The best factual content I’ve seen online this year was:
Virtual History on YouTube.

The most positive development in the non-fiction/unscripted content industry this past year was:
Self-published VOD platforms.

The most troubling development in the non-fiction/unscripted content industry this past year was:
The continued dominance of scripted.

The idea I wish I thought of was:
Million Pound Hand Jobs.

The idea I’m happiest to have had this year was:
To launch our own AVOD.

If 2019 taught me one thing it was
Self commission.

The buzzword I don’t want to hear in 2020 is:
“Woke”.

My New Year’s resolution for 2020 is:
Party like its 2019.
