Discovery is set to launch its flagship home and lifestyle channel HGTV as a free-to-air channel in Italy, and as a pay channel in 11 Central European markets.
The European roll out of HGTV is part of Discovery’s international strategy to expand the reach of this former Scripps Network brand through its extensive distribution network. HGTV launched in Germany and South Africa in 2019.
Meanwhile, Home is rebranding to HGTV in the UK on Jan. 21.
HGTV will bow in Italy on Feb. 2 and in Central Europe, including Romania, Hungary and Serbia, in Q1 2020.
