UK broadcaster Channel 5 has partnered with Endemol Shine Group to launch a number of channels across its free-to-air television channel My5.
The push serves as a continued expansion from C5 of third-party content partnerships and adds 60 hours of specialist food and crime content on the platform with the launch of genre-based channels Masters of Food and Real Truth Crime.
My5 will additionally supplement the two channels with 20 hours of content each on a monthly basis throughout the year.
Featured culinary programming to be found on the Masters of Food channel will include Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (Zero Point Zero Productions for CNN), which follows the late chef on his worldly exploration of cuisines; and cooking game show My Kitchen Rules Australia (Seven Studios Australia).
The Reel Truth Crime channel, meanwhile, will house a collection of true crime docs including Crime Investigation Australia (Foxtel Original Production), exploring some of the country’s most horrific crimes; and Death Row Stories (Jigsaw Productions and Sundance Productions for CNN), which revisits compelling capital murder cases in the U.S.
The Endemol Shine Group partnership marks the latest in a string of third-party content offerings to sit on My5. The platform already houses six third-party channels, including PBS America, A+E Networks UK, Blaze, six Pluto TV channels, and the recently announced addition of ViacomCBS-backed Smithsonian Channel.
“Third-party channels are an important part of the content mix on My5, as they increase the breadth of programming on the platform and provide an additional monetization window for partners,” said Oli Thomas, VP and digital lead at Channel 5, in a statement. “The Endemol Shine Group channels will add an exciting new dimension to the content on My5.”
“We are very pleased to have My5 as a content partner and deliver their viewers a great selection of Endemol Shine Group’s diverse catalog,” added Kasia Jablonska, head of digital distribution and monetization, Endemol Shine Group. “This partnership demonstrates our continued commitment to developing cross-industry partnerships and actively contributing to the digital revolution.”
