Banijay Rights has entered into a three-year, first look agreement with Scottish prodco Storyboard Studios, part of independent production group iZEN.

Storyboard, headed by managing director Natalie Humphreys, former factual controller at the BBC, specializes in premium documentary, specialist factual and formats. The agreement, announced at the Realscreen Summit in New Orleans, bolsters the Banijay Rights catalogue which currently sits at more than 20,000 hours.

“We were impressed by Storyboard’s very developed slate and the traction they had already achieved with it,” said Emily Elisha, head of factual, Banijay Rights, in a statement. “That, coupled with Natalie and the team’s wealth of experience and success in the factual and factual entertainment space made them a great potential production partner for us.”

“To kick off 2020 announcing that we’re working with Emily and the Banijay Rights team is in line with the big plans already in motion for this year,” added Humphreys. “The creativity and energy they bring is a vital ingredient that’s extremely hard to find.”

New commissions in production for UK and global broadcasters are soon to be announced, according to both parties, with further news about collaborative programming as a result of the deal to come in the summer.
