Emmy Award-winning producing duo Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, co-founders of newly-minted unscripted prodco Alfred Street Industries, join Jimmy Fox for the latest edition of the Unscripted and Unprepared podcast, presented in partnership with Realscreen.
Recorded in front of a live audience at the 2020 Realscreen Summit in New Orleans, the episode features Realscreen Hall of Fame inductees Cutforth and Lipsitz as they discuss the history of their production partnership and the early days of Magical Elves, as well as stories of how seminal non-scripted series such as Top Chef, Project Runway and recent hit series Sugar Rush and Nailed It! came to be.
Lipsitz and Cutforth also shed light on their latest production venture, Alfred Street Industries, named for the West Hollywood street where their first production company, Magical Elves, was born. In just its first several months, Alfred Street has secured series greenlights from Quibi — including the upcoming Chrissy’s Court featuring Chrissy Teigen — and Amazon and Netflix, among others.
Cutforth and Lipsitz also continue to produce National Geographic’s Brain Games and Bravo’s Project Runway under the Alfred Street Industries banner.
Past episodes of Unscripted and Unprepared, a series of conversations with the most influential players in the unscripted television industry, have featured Howard T. Owens, Arthur Smith, Brent Montgomery, Nancy Glass, Jonathan Murray, Cori Abraham, Thom Beers, World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey, former Epix unscripted head Rachel Brill, History’s Eli Lehrer, Propagate Content’s Ben Silverman, ID’s Jane Latman, TLC’s Jason Sarlanis, ITV America’s David Eilenberg, and Showtime’s Vinnie Malhotra, among many others.
Jimmy Fox’s production credits with Main Event Media include CNN’s United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell and Amazon’s Inside Jokes.
