Insight TV, the Amsterdam-based producer and distributor of millennial-focused 4K content, is teaming up with Austria-headquartered Red Bull Media House for a six-part series on the global break dancing scene, set to drop in 2021.

Breaking Boundaries will visit six locales — Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, London, Rotterdam, Lagos and New York City — and pair up a break dancer from each city with one from another, in an effort to explore break dancing culture from myriad perspectives.

Casting and pre-production is currently underway, with shooting expected to begin in September, as the global locations emerge from pandemic lockdowns and re-open for filming.

New York City, for example, gave the greenlight for film and television production to resume on July 20, but many large-scale projects are looking at beginning production in September or October.

Arun Maljaars, VP of content and channels for Insight TV, said in a statement that the two companies are joining forces to “to overcome the obstacles and restrictions created by the lockdowns to create a truly unique series.”

Delivery of Breaking Boundaries is slated for next spring.
