Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Media and HBO Max will mark the 30-year anniversary of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with an unscripted special, set to tape Sept. 10.
The reunion will premiere on the streamer — which hosts all six seasons of Fresh Prince — around Thanksgiving, and will look back on the cultural impact of the series since it first aired in 1990.
Series star Will Smith will be joined by cast mates such as Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Alfonso Ribeiro as well as the recurring DJ Jazzy Jeff for a night of music, dancing and special surprise guests.
Marcus Raboy (Laugh Aid, Whitney Cummings: Can I Touch It?) will direct the special. Rikki Hughes serves as executive producer and showrunner.
Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser and Brad Haugen are executive producers for Westbrook Media.
The Smiths founded Westbrook Media in 2019 with Melendez and Ko Yada. Led by Haugen, president of the company, Westbrook Media is focused on incubating premium IP across digital, non-scripted linear programs, content-driven branding and marketing and social media management.
The The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is the second such project slated for the streamer. It joins HBO Max’s unscripted Friends reunion special, which has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
