London- and Glasgow-based Firecracker Films, part of the Tinopolis Group, has secured a commission from UK free-to-air broadcaster Channel 5 for the documentary Gypsy Eviction: The Battle For Dale Farm.

The 90-minute films tells the story of the 2011 Dale Farm eviction, in which government officials in Essex attempted the largest-ever eviction of travelers in British history.

Officials were met with fierce resistance in a battle that dominated headlines throughout the country.

Looking to build on its 2019 feature doc The Town the Gypsies Took Over, which explored Britain’s biggest traveler gathering at the Appleby Horse Fair, Firecracker Films trawled through thousands of hours of archival material, and secured interview access to some of the most integral people on both sides of the barricades.

Ben Bhatia is director-producer; Julie Scott is production executive; and executive producers are Federico Ruiz and Jes Wilkins.
