Cineflix Productions has hired former Optomen Productions exec Kristin Wendell to lead unscripted development in the U.S. and elevated Kim Bondi, EVP of production and programming, to head the company’s Canadian development slate.

The move is part of the Cineflix Media-owned company’s efforts to ramp up development in North America.

Based in Cineflix Productions’ New York office, Wendell (pictured) will report to J.C. Mills, president and commercial director. She will work closely with directors of development Austin Steele and Erika Hardin.

Wendell was previously VP of development at All3Media-owned Optomen Productions, where she was responsible for developing docuseries and original formats for U.S. broadcast and cable networks, including PBS, Lifetime and Food Network.

Prior to Optomen, Wendell served as VP of development for Part2 Pictures where she oversaw the development team and a slate of titles such as MSNBC’s docuseries Story of Cool with LL Cool J and investigative three-part series Breaking Hate; Scene of the Crime with Tony Harris for Investigation Discovery; and CNN’s Chasing Life with Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

She has also held various development positions at networks including TruTV, National Geographic and Discovery.

Bondi, meanwhile, is taking on the expanded role of head of development for Canada, while continuing to be involved in various projects currently in development with U.S. networks.

Since joining Cineflix in 2005, Bondi has developed and served as executive producer on such series as Property Brothers, Property Brothers: Buying & Selling and Flipping Virgins for HGTV; true crime series Hours to Kill and Bizarre Murders for global networks; Food Factory for Food Network Canada; and Rock Solid Builds, currently in production for HGTV Canada.
