MTV Int’l slates digital series with Love Island stars

MTV International is expanding its digital slate with a new remotely filmed short-form show made for YouTube and Facebook.

MTV’s Living The Dream (pictured; 8 x 11 minutes) sees Love Island alums Michael Griffiths, Chris Taylor, Jordan Hames and Danny Williams document the highs and lows of their friendship, including moving in together and playing pranks.

The series is produced by True North with Rebecca Saponiere and Fiona O’Sullivan serving as executive producers. Jaime Brannan and Craig Orr are EPs for MTV International

It premieres Oct. 16 also across MTV International’s YouTube, MTV UK’s Facebook and BET International’s Facebook pages, joining MTV’s Celebrity Bumps Mike + Perri, which premiered yesterday (Oct. 8).

Former Beyond Distribution exec boards Rive Gauche

Los Angeles-based producer-distributor Rive Gauche has hired former Beyond Distribution acquisitions head Justina Hemperek as SVP of acquisitions and sales.

Hemperek will oversee acquisitions and co-productions, working closely with producers globally. She will also handle sales to Eastern Europe and Asia, reporting into Marine Ksadzhikyan, COO and EVP of sales.

At Beyond Distribution, Hemperek was based in London, overseeing all global acquisitions as well as corporate strategies, relationships and budgets. Prior to that, the executive worked at eOne as director of acquisitions, UK, Europe and Australia, international distribution.

She also held roles at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, All3Media International and RDF Rights in the UK.

In other news, Rive Gauche Television secured international distribution rights to the true crime series The Killer Truth (8 x 60 minutes), produced by Catalina Content for HLN Original Series and commissioned history series Disaster Déjà Vu (13 x 60 minutes) from Canadian Producer Farpoint Films.

Vuulr bolsters non-fiction offering

Vuulr, a global online content marketplace for premium film and TV rights, has signed agreements with broadcasters, producers and distributors across North America and Europe to add more than 1,000 hours of content to the platform.

MacGillivray Freeman Films has listed their catalog of award-winning documentaries and short-form series, including America’s Musical Journey, Dream Big: Engineering Our World, America’s Treasures – National Parks, and Humpback Whales on Vuulr.

Meanwhile, 4K broadcaster and producer Insight TV is offering eSports series Modern Day Gladiators, motoring program Car Crews with Supercar Blondie and urban exploration show Epic Exploring: Going Local.

Jackson Wild unveils resource hub

Jackson Wild, organizer of the Jackson Wild Summit, has launched a resource for production teams looking to engage experienced local field crews, equipment and other resources.

The Jackson Wild Collective will also serve as an interactive forum for workshops, internships, mentoring, funding and RFPs and other databases.

Developed in conversation with more than 100 commissioners and filmmakers leading up to and during the Summit Action Forum, the hub aims to provide global talent and local storytellers greater access to training and opportunities in wildlife and documentary filmmaking.
