CBS is in advanced discussions with Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment and Simon Cowell’s SyCo Entertainment to produce a new music competition series titled 50 States to Stardom, Realscreen has confirmed through sources with knowledge of the situation.

The series, to be executive produced by Howard (pictured left), Grazer (center) and Cowell (right), will mix music competition and documentary formats.

Over the course of the season, the docuseries will profile each state across the country to narrow down one act from each, culminating in a showcase to determine the winning talent. Alongside a panel of judges, viewers across America will play an active role in voting for their next favorite star.
