NBCUniversal’s Bravo is expanding the Emmy Award-winning Top Chef franchise with the greenlight of Top Chef Amateurs, produced by Magical Elves.

Hosted by Top Chef judge Gail Simmons (pictured), the culinary competition series — premiering in 2021 — will see amateur chefs face off in some of the most iconic challenges from the Top Chef archives.

Fans will cast their vote via Twitter to help choose between two challenges from past seasons of the original format: the Seven Deadly Sins challenge and the Aphrodisiac Challenge.

With Simmons, the series will feature Top Chef stars Eric Adjepong, Richard Blais, Jennifer Carroll, Shirley Chung, Stephanie Cmar, Tiffany Derry, Joe Flamm, Gregory Gourdet, Melissa King, Kwame Onwuachi, Dale Talde and Isaac Toups.

Production is scheduled to begin in Portland later this month, with crews working in a production “bubble.”

Casey Kriley, Jo Sharon, Doneen Arquines, Hillary Olsen, Zoe Jackson and Gayle Gawlowski serve as executive producers for Magical Elves, part of The Tinopolis Group.
