Realscreen is partnering with filmmaker and executive producer Chuck Braverman and his Westdoc Online video series to bring his interviews with acclaimed documentarians and non-fiction content industry figures to its readership.
In this episode, Braverman meets with Pippa Ehrlich, director of the acclaimed Netflix doc My Octopus Teacher. The film has been sweeping recent awards programs, including the Jackson Wild Media Awards and the Silbersalz Science Media Awards, and is continuing to garner buzz and nominations for other awards ceremonies.
Here, Ehrlich describes the multi-year process behind shaping the film with central figure Craig Foster and co-director James Reed, and assembling a team of filmmakers and scientists to tell the story behind the film’s other central figure — the octopus that Foster befriends.
