ITN Productions secures Channel 4 greenlight
UK pubcaster Channel 4 has commissioned ITN Productions to make a two-part series about British variety store chain, Poundland.
Inside Poundland: Secrets from the Shop Floor (pictured) looks at how the discount retailer is transforming its stores in a bid to attract new customers. The series follows a number of key Poundland colleagues across the UK as they reinvigorate their product ranges and brainstorm new ideas.
Executive producers are Will Smith and Claudine Parrish. The series was commissioned by Becky Cadman, commissioning editor, factual entertainment, for Channel 4.
TVF International sells underwater wildlife series
London-based indie distributor TVF International has sold three underwater wildlife series to international broadcasters.
Blue chip series Great Barrier Reef: A Living Treasure (4 x 60 minutes; RJ Media), narrated by Russell Crowe, sold to DirecTV USA; Viasat World for CEE, Nordics, Russia and CIS; National Geographic for Asia Pacific and MENA; Nine Network Australia; Youku China; Kultura Russia; Globosat Brazil; MCOT Thailand and FTV Prima.
DirecTV, National Geographic for Asia Pacific and MENA, Kultura, MCOT and Globosat, meanwhile, have picked up Ocean Wild (4 x 48 minutes), a coproduction between TVF International and Tokyovision.
The series has also sold to AMC Networks International, Southern Europe’s Odisea/Odisseia, Telia Eesti Estonia, Russian Extreme TV and Knowledge Canada.
Finally, the rights to Ocean Predators (4 x 44 minutes) — originally commissioned by Prime NZ — have also been secured by AMC Networks International and Southern Europe’s Odisea/Odisseia, as well as Bili Bili China, Fim Plus Vietnam, FTV Prima and Ceska Televize Czech Republic, Al Jazeera Middle East, Russian Extreme TV and JKN Global Media Thailand.
NENT Studios UK sends The Last Journey of the Vikings overseas
NENT Studios UK has struck a number of international deals for the 4 x 60-minute docuseries The Last Journey of the Vikings.
The series has been licensed to Rai in Italy, GEO Television (RTL) in Germany, Discovery in Spain and SBS in Australia.
Produced by Mopar Studios and filmed in Ireland, The Last Journey of the Vikings is a Viaplay Original and has been coproduced by NENT Group, France Télévisions and NENT Studios UK.
Cargo Film & Releasing takes Surviving Sinaga
New York-based sales house Cargo Film & Releasing has taken the world rights to George Attwood and Callum Roe’s Surviving Sinaga.
The film tells the story of Reynhard Sinaga, a convicted serial rapist in the UK. It includes interviews with Sinaga’s last victim who helped police capture him, the Guardian journalist who covered the disturbing trial, and the lead prosecutor on the case who sent Sinaga away for life.
