Rakuten TV, the VOD streaming platform of Japanese e-commerce marketplace Rakuten, has commissioned the sports-centric documentary Break Point: A Davis Cup Story.
The film will chronicle the latest edition of the oldest and largest international tennis team competition, the Davis Cup. It will focus on the stories of the two teams competing in the finals of the 2019 competition that was held in Madrid: the experienced Rafael Nadal (pictured) and his Spanish compatriots versus a youthful Canadian team led by 20-year-old Denis Shapovalov.
The doc will offer behind-the-scenes access into the motivations, challenges and obstacles of the participant teams, alongside intimate interviews with Spaniards Nadal, Roberto Bautista Agut, Sergi Bruguera and captain Feliciano López; and Canadians in Shapovalov and Frank Dancevic.
Break Point: A Davis Cup Story is produced by Barcelona- and Los Angeles-based Kosmos Studios, the production outfit founded in 2017 by FC Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué.
It will be made available via Rakuten TV beginning Nov. 26.
