Chris McCumber, who exited from NBCU as president of its Entertainment Networks division in September, is joining Blumhouse Television as president.
McCumber, in his two-decade stint at NBCuniversal, most recently headed up Syfy and USA Network as part of his remit but left as the restructuring of the company’s TV and streaming business, which saw Frances Berwick appointed to lead the reconfigured Entertainment Business division, took hold.
At Blumhouse, McCumber will be tasked with overseeing all areas of the company’s TV business.
In addition, the company announced that co-president Jeremy Gold will be named as president of production.
Blumhouse’s alternative and non-scripted programming department, overseen by EVP Mary Lisio, is currently enjoying accolades for Netflix doc A Secret Love. Other recent projects include the FX true crime miniseries A Wilderness of Error, helmed by Marc Smerling.
