CNN Films to air Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President in January
WarnerMedia news network CNN will premiere Mary Wharton’s feature-length documentary Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President in the new year.
The 95-minute film (pictured), which closed the AFI Docs Film Festival in June, chronicles the role popular music played in propelling a relatively unknown candidate from Georgia to the White House, and the role that music played in Jimmy Carter’s life and work.
Produced by Not Just Peanuts, the doc provides insight into how the 39th President of the United States utilized music to help define his administration while also forming lifelong bonds with renowned musicians including Bob Dylan, Gregg Allman, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash and Willie Nelson.
Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President premieres Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CNN, and will also be made available to stream for subscribers via CNNgo and on the CNN mobile apps.
The project is produced by Chris Farrell and Dave Kirkpatrick. Executive producers include Dan Braun, Peter Conlon, David Crawford and Wharton.
