Drive to distribute Shared Planet worldwide

Drive has secured the rights to globally distribute the docuseries Shared Planet as the funding, sales and distribution business looks to expand its footprint in the natural history, climate and environmental programming space.

The company is currently securing co-production financing for the 4 x 60-minute series (pictured) with Canadian pubic broadcaster CBC attached to provide development funding.

Each episodes of Shared Planet — titled “Forests,” “Water,” “Cities” and “Grassland” — will feature stories that center around an animal character and human whose actions improve life for both people and wildlife.

The series is executive produced by Neil Nightingale, the former head of the BBC’s Natural History Unit, and series produced by veteran filmmaker Jeff Turner (Planet Earth, Frozen Planet) of River Road Films.

Amazon Prime Video to launch LOL: Last One Laughing in France

Amazon Prime Video is launching its competition comedy series LOL: Last One Laughing in France next year.

The six-part localized version — LOL: Tu ris, tu perds — will be presented by actor, writer, director and producer Philippe Lacheau, who will pit 10 famous French comedians against one another to see who can keep a straight face while simultaneously trying to make their opponents laugh for six hours.

The winner will receive €100,000 to go to the charity of their choice.

LOL: Last One Laughing is produced by Endemol Shine France. This new production is an adaptation of the popular Japanese Amazon Original series, Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documental. That format has been replicated exclusively for Prime Video in in Mexico and Australia.
