Former U.S. Secretary of State, First Lady and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is teaming with daughter Chelsea Clinton and filmmaker/entrepreneur Sam Branson in a production company venture, HiddenLight Productions, which has scored its first commission via Apple TV+.

The docuseries, Gutsy Women, is a straight-to-series order based on the book from Hilary and Chelsea Clinton, The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience. Both women will serve as hosts for the series, which aims to spotlight diverse trailblazing women.

HiddenLight Productions, meanwhile, launches with the mandate of creating premium documentary, unscripted and scripted projects for TV, film and digital platforms that “will celebrate the best of the human spirit and help audiences see the world in new ways,” according to the company.

The founders have also brought on Roma Khanna as executive chair and Johnny Webb as CEO. Khanna was previously CEO of Revolt Media and President of MGM Television Group and Digital, whilst Webb was CEO of Sundog Pictures and formerly Managing Director of the Living TV Group.

The team at Branson’s Sundog Pictures, led by Webb and Clare Featherstone, will be integrated into the new venture, with Featherstone taking the role of COO.

“For too long, attention has been paid only to the loudest voices in the room,” said Rodham Clinton in a statement. “There have been generations of change-makers who have shaped and will continue to shape our world –- often quietly, flying under the radar. We are excited to launch HiddenLight to share the stories of leaders –- celebrated and unsung alike –- who are defying the odds and marching bravely forward.”

“There has never been a more urgent time to ask and answer the big questions that will shape our future in the years to come,” added Branson. “Now more than ever, we need stories that foster hope and bridge the divide to create a more united and solution-focused world.”

Chelsea Clinton stated: “The stories we tell and the experiences we share shape the way we see each other and help us understand our own unique place in the world. We are thrilled to launch HiddenLight to bring powerful stories of perseverance and persistence to the world. Our hope is that they will surprise, inspire and expand the notion of what’s possible as we work toward a kinder, safer, more just and equitable future.”

Besides the Apple series, for which a premiere date hasn’t been announced, HiddenLight is working on a number of projects in advanced development, to be revealed at a later date.
