Discovery UK has commissioned two new series: Spun Gold’s Sun, Sea & Obesity (w/t) for digital TV channel Quest Red and Air TV’s Derelict Rescue (w/t) for HGTV.

The 8 x 60-minute series Sun, Sea & Obesity follows a group of British guests as they travel to a holiday resort in Antigua to experience a “judgment free vacation” and accept their bodies with the help of specialist staff.

Derelict Rescue, meanwhile, (pictured) is a 10 x 60-minute series following families in the UK as they turn rundown buildings into beautiful homes.

Clare Laycock SVP and head of lifestyle and entertainment brands at Discovery UK and Ireland ordered the programs, which were commissioned by Charlotte Reid, head of commissioning for lifestyle and entertainment at Discovery UK. Deirdre Dowling is commissioning executive for Quest Red and HGTV.

London-headquartered indie Spun Gold has produced programming such as ITV1′s Quizmaster, BBC2′s Inside Monaco: Playground of the Rich and True Royalty’s Prince William: Monarch in the Making, to name a few.

Sun, Sea & Obesity (w/t) joins recent Quest Red unscripted commissions At Home with The Nolans from Koska and The Hair Loss Clinic from  Angel Eye Media.

Air TV, based in Yorkshire, has produced Helicopter ER for Discovery’s Really, Bangers & Cash for UKTV’s Yesterday and Emergency Rescue Down Under for BBC.
