CuriosityStream has named Brandon Fong as SVP and head of North American distribution for the factual streaming service and mediaco.
Fong (pictured) will focus on driving the expansion of the company across all North American markets including streaming media platforms, broadband service providers/MVPDs and wireless carriers.
The veteran executive is charged with securing and negotiating new distribution deals and developing strategic business relationships as well as strengthening existing partnerships with diversified growth opportunities, content licensing deals and new marketing channels.
Most recently, Fong was SVP of digital business development at STX Entertainment, responsible for distribution and monetization efforts as well as the launch of new STX-branded franchises on social networks, OTT platforms and MVPDs.
He executed content partnerships with Snap and Verizon Media Group and drove strategic relationships with Facebook, Amazon, Dick Clark Productions and Jukin Media.
Prior to that, Fong was SVP of video business development for Time, Inc., overseeing partnerships with brands including Amazon, Hulu and Comcast. He also held similar roles at the Game Show Network and Starz Entertainment.
“As an independent, pure-play factual streaming brand, CuriosityStream is perfectly positioned to accelerate its trademark business based on audience demand and partners’ needs,” Fong said in a statement. “I’m honored to join the stellar CuriosityStream team during such a pivotal time for the company and help to drive continued growth, by leveraging CuriosityStream’s unrivaled library of documentary films and series to deliver the best entertainment experience to current and new viewers across North America.”
