Paris-headquartered superindie Banijay has launched a German reality label in collaboration with experienced television producer Rainer Laux and Endemol Shine Germany.
Under terms of the deal, the newly minted Rainer Laux Productions will place heavy emphasis on the development, production and sales of original reality formats.
“Our aim is to create formats for our partners that get Germany talking and have international potential,” said Laux, who will serve as managing director of his Rainer Laux Productions, in a statement. “We offer a home for celebrities and colleagues who love entertainment and reality.”
The executive has been behind some of the biggest reality hits to grace German television to date. He was producer of Germany’s inaugural Big Brother season for Endemol in 2000, and went on to launch Celebrity Big Brother for Sat.1. More recently, Laux worked on Promis unter Palmen (Paradise Hell), which has since found a home on the Banijay Rights catalog.
A number of forthcoming projects have also been slated for release in 2021 across various streaming providers and broadcasters, including the Claudia Obert-fronted format Claudia’s House of Love, which launched earlier this month on Joyn, the streaming joint venture of media giants ProSiebenSat.1 Media and Discovery.
In addition to the reality shows, Rainer Laux retains responsibility for all formats with presenter Julia Leischik and reality personality Daniela Katzenberger.
“Rainer lives and breathes reality, and I am so pleased about the collaboration,” added Fabian Tobias, managing director of Endemol Shine Germany. “With him, we are a magnet for reality stars and a reliable partner to provide broadcasters and streamers with reality hits.”
