Channel 4′s deputy head of features and formats Sean Doyle has reportedly boarded Disney+ as director of original production, unscripted general entertainment, for Europe and Africa.
According to myriad trade publications, Doyle (pictured) will report to Liam Keelan, Disney’s VP of original content for Europe and Africa. UK trade Broadcast first reported the news.
Doyle took up his most recent role at C4 in September 2018 from Channel 5, where he served as a commissioning editor across a range of genres. At C4, he worked with head of features and formats Sarah Lazenby across the department’s slate of programming.
Doyle was responsible for C5′s reinvention of Blind Date and commissioned such titles as Gino’s Win Your Wish List, Jo Brand’s Cats & Kittens, Britain’s Parking Hell and In Solitary: The Anti-Social Experiment. He also oversaw brands such as Police Interceptors, The Dog Rescuers, Extreme Railway Journeys with Chris Tarrant and the relaunch of The Gadget Show with Craig Charles.
Prior to joining C5, Doyle was head of development for BBC Features Formats and Daytime and created Portillo’s State Secrets and Blitz Cities which were produced from Northern Ireland for BBC1 and BBC2.
