RuPaul’s Drag Race picked up in New Zealand, Australia

RuPaul’s Drag Race is heading to Australia and New Zealand in 2021 with Ru Paul’s Drag Race Down Under.

Commissioned by Australian local streaming service Stan and TVNZ OnDemand in New Zealand, the series will be a Stan Original production in Australia.

The next international edition of the reality competition from Emmy Award-winning producer World of Wonder will stream on WOW Presents Plus in the U.S. and other international markets.

Production is expected to begin this week in New Zealand, with the series premiering later this year.

RuPaul Charles (pictured) serves as host with Michelle Visage on the judges’ panel. Ru Paul’s Drag Race Down Under will feature contestants from across Australia and New Zealand.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under joins a global slate of franchise versions executive produced by World of Wonder across the UK, Canada, Thailand, Chile, the Netherlands and recently announced Spain.

The series is a World of Wonder production in collaboration with Warner Bros. International Television Production New Zealand for Stan and TVNZ.

Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey, Tom Campbell, and RuPaul Charles serve as executive producers.

Passion Distribution will distribute the series globally.

Abacus Media Rights takes Best Dog India 

Abacus Media Rights, part of the Amcomri Media Group, has secured international distribution rights for the 60-minute film Best Dog India, produced by Singapore-headquartered Beach House Pictures, a Blue Ant Media production company.

The documentary, narrated by actress and model Kate Beckinsale, follows dog owners participating in the Kennel Club of India’s nationwide tournament to select the country’s top dog.

It is directed by Dixie Chan and Donovan Chan and executive produced by Donovan Chan, Jocelyn Little, and Geraldine Orrock. Chris Baron, Saumya Chhabra, Phillson Rajan and Conal Whyte are producers.

History Channel Iberia, Artico ink deal

The History Channel Iberia, a joint venture between A+E Networks International Southern Europe and Hearst, has signed a distribution agreement with Spanish agent Artico Distribution.

The deal will see Artico represent the channel’s  original content in the international market, covering the territories of France, Portugal, the Nordics and Eastern Europe, as well as Latin America.

This catalog of originals includes 130 hours of titles, including Gamer Sapiens (6 x 45 minutes), Legendary Creatures (6 x 45 minutes), The First Travel Around the World (6 x 45 minutes) and Templar Territory (6 x 45 minutes), among others.
