New York-based boutique factual prodco Silent Crow Arts has cemented its top line structure within its development team with former National Geographic exec Zack Sweeney at the helm.
As vice president of development, Sweeney (pictured) will be responsible for managing the entire non-fiction development slate from the Barnwood Builder and Driving America creator.
Most recently, Sweeney served as a director of development at National Geographic, and was previously the director of development and a producer at Lucky 8 TV. Prior to this, he spent nearly six years with A+E Network’s History Channel as a programming and development producer.
Elsewhere, the New York studio has tapped Saturday Night Live alum Dean Edwards (Our Cartoon President, Funny You Should Ask) as head of comedy.
In this role, Edwards will be responsible for overseeing Silent Crow’s expanding unscripted comedy slate following a career spent focusing on stand-up comedy, as well as performing, writing or producing comedy.
With a Netflix stand-up special slated to release this summer, Edwards will also be tasked with nurturing new talent and producing a variety of comedy formats.
“We have worked with Dean as talent for years,” said Silent Crow’s founder and president Matt Bennett in a statement. “Suddenly we realized he could be producing and cultivating new comedy talent with us.”
Finally, the New York-headquartered producer has promoted Jenn Lee, Silent Crow’s long-time head of development, to VP of casting.
Previously as head of development, Lee was responsible for the overall development of scripted and non-scripted projects, script development and editing while also specializing in casting and research.
