Endemol Shine North America (ESNA), a division of Banijay Group, has elevated Sharon Levy, formerly president of unscripted and scripted TV, to chief content officer.
Levy has served as president of unscripted and scripted television since arriving at the Los Angeles-based Endemol Shine studio in 2017 from Spike TV – the ViacomCBS cable network rebranded as Paramount Network in 2018.
The seasoned executive is preparing to launch TBS’s rebooted competition series Wipeout, which is currently in post-production with new hosts John Cena and Nicole Byer. Levy has also previously overseen a number of successful unscripted launches during her three-year tenure, including Fox’s recently renewed LEGO Masters and Disney+’s recently commissioned culinary competition Foodtastic, fronted by actress and R&B singer Keke Palmer.
In her three years with Endemol Shine North America, Levy has also worked to streamline the company’s LA-based programming team to work in tandem with Banijay’s global production outfits.
During her seven years at Spike as EVP of original series, Levy oversaw the acquisition, creation and production of all entertainment throughout the network’s evolution, adding such successful series to the network’s lineup as Bar Rescue, Ink Master, Auction Hunters and Deadliest Warrior.
“Since arriving three years ago, Sharon has successfully transformed our team’s development and production efforts, creating both unscripted and scripted hits for a wide array of networks and platforms,” said Cris Abrego, Banijay’s chairman of the Americas, and president and CEO of Endemol Shine Holdings, in a statement. “I’m thrilled that she will continue leading our content team and I know that she has an exciting, ambitious slate of new series that we will be rolling out in the coming months.”
“We enter 2021 with a lot of momentum—several big shows in production and a deep development slate that we have been assembling since I first arrived,” added Levy.
