Discovery is spinning off its long-running unscripted series Moonshiners, produced by Magilla Entertainment, with a barbeque competition series for discovery+.

Moonshiners: Smoke Ring (pictured) will venture to the deep South where Moonshiner Stephen Ray Tickle and “Hogfather” Tank Jackson search for undiscovered pit masters in the underground world of barbeque.

The pit masters will compete for the title of Smoke Ring champion, joined each week by guest judges and barbeque experts including Sam Jones, Ed and Ryan Mitchell, Chris Lilly, Emily Han, and Carey Bringle — known as Peg Leg Porke.

Executive producers for Magilla Entertainment are Matthew Ostrom, Laura Palumbo JohnsonJason Fox, Kevin Allgood and Ron Cornwall.

For Discovery Channel, executive producer is Bill Howard and associate producer is Paola Espinosa.

Moonshiners: Smoke Ring premieres March 9. Other spin-offs of the series have included Tickle and Moonshiners: Whisky Business.

discovery+ launched Jan. 4 with more than 150 hours of exclusive content and over 55,000 episodes from across its lauded unscripted portfolio, including Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Animal Planet, TLC and the forthcoming Magnolia Network.

In its first year, discovery+ plans to premiere 1,000 hours of original content.
