Canada’s Quebecor Content has inked a deal to adapt a local version of The Masked Singer for Quebec.
The hit South Korean TV format from Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation and distributed by MBC America, originally titled The King of Masked Singer, has already been adapted in over 40 countries, with a top-rated version airing on Fox in the U.S. and TF1 in France.
“Quebecor Content continues to acquire the biggest formats making their mark around the world,” said Christine Maestracci, vice president, acquisitions & international distribution, Quebecor Content in a statement. “We are delighted to add The Masked Singer to the long list of internationally successful formats that Quebecor Content and local producers have brilliantly adapted to the Quebec market.”
Quebecor Content has also adapted local versions of The Voice and French format Star Académie.
The company is planning for a fall 2021 premiere of The Masked Singer.
