ABC and Sony Pictures Television are partnering to reboot The Dating Game – which ran on the network from 1965 to 1973 — with a celebrity twist.
The Celebrity Dating Game will be hosted by actress and singer-songwriter Zooey Deschanel and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Michael Bolton.
Promising to offer the same feel as the original dating show, each episode follows two celebrities who each pick one suitor from a hidden panel of three bachelors and/or bachelorettes based on answers to a variety of questions.
However, the celebrity identities will remain a mystery to the suitors, who are given clues via parody song performances by Bolton.
The game show promises to be a “wry wink” at modern dating life and feature a roster of celebrity singles from television, music, comedy, reality TV and feature film in their pursuit to find love.
The Celebrity Dating Game is executive produced by Bolton with Charles Wachter, Christina Kline and Wendi Wan, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
