Luke Hales is stepping down as channel director at UKTV’s Dave next month after nearly five years in the role.

Hales (pictured) joined the BBC Studios-owned broadcaster in 2004 as a junior analyst before moving into the role of research manager. He was part of the core team that launched Dave (formerly UKTVG2)  in 2007.

In 2009, the executive left UKTV to join MTV UK and Viacom U.S. He returned to UKTV in 2015 as head of research and was later promoted to general manager of UKTV’s life channels (Really, Good Food and Home).

Hales took up the role of channel director for Dave in 2017.

Under the executive, Dave launched numerous returning series, with recent non-scripted commissions including Cops on the Rock and Fast Justice.

He also recently led the re-launch of Dave’s YouTube channel and partnered with suicide prevention charity Calm to raise awareness around World Mental Health Day.

UKTV is currently searching for a replacement.
